According to the statistics of Vietnam Association for Export and Production of South China Sea Products (VASEP), in the first 10 months of 2022, the export volume of Vietnamese Salmon increased 77% year on year, reaching 2.1 billion US dollars, more than the whole year.
Chinese importers bought 30% Vietnamese Salmon, valued at 638 million US dollars; The United States took the second place, with imports of 491 million dollars.
VASEP said that the 77% growth in the export of Salmon was the highest growth rate in recent years, and also the highest growth rate compared with other aquaculture industries. In the first half of the year, the export volume increased by 70%. At that time, the American economy was not yet impacted by inflation.
According to statistics, the export of frozen fillets accounted for 86%, or 1.9 billion US dollars, up 79% year on year. The export of value-added products accounted for 1.5%, or 327000 dollars. In October alone, Vietnam's exports of salsa to China reached 64.2 million US dollars, up 105% year on year.
The US market also performed well. In September, the United States imported 105,500 tons of frozen anchovy, a year-on-year increase of 24%, and the import volume was $445 million, a year-on-year increase of 91%.
VASEP said that the average price of frozen croaker imported from the United States reached $4.26/kg, up 53%. Compared with other seafood exported from Vietnam to the United States, the price increase of salsa is also the highest.
