China remains Ecuador's largest export market for shrimp products, with exports to China reaching 68450 tons in May, an increase of 40% year-on-year; The export volume to the United States was 15463 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 15%. Ecuador's export volume to Spain, the largest market in Europe, was 4293 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 35%.

The average export price of Ecuadorian shrimp is $5.34 per kilogram, with a year-on-year and month on month decrease of 17%.

The average export price of Ecuadorian shrimp in China is $5.11 per kilogram, a year-on-year decrease of 18%. The export price to the United States was $6.17, a decrease of 14% year-on-year.

Ecuador will increase the density of shrimp farming from 8 to 15 per square meter to ensure a good habitat for shrimp. Ecuador introduced a series of shrimp feed factories around 2010 to help Ecuadorian shrimp farmers increase their shrimp growth rate from 1.1 grams per week to 2.5 grams.

Ecuador has a shrimp farming area of 220000 hectares, with an average annual yield of 4.5 tons per hectare. It is expected that the production will further increase in the future.
